The city is losing its only

ROCK CLIMBING GYM

You have likely heard about the countdown until UNB decommissions the Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium. The building closure is in the news because it means that the city will lose the Sir Max Aitken pool, and along with it Fredericton’s only rock climbing facility.

This is huge news for climbers in the city - the gym, operated by the UNB Rock and Ice Climbing Club, is the focal point for recreational climbers, training, competitions, birthday parties, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, and a host of other activities.

Losing access to indoor rock climbing is not an option and we need an alternative.

Our effort is well underway! We are reaching out to our members and to the public to help us make this a reality in Fredericton.

That will be owned and controlled by its members. With an open site concept that will be appealing to newcomers and experienced climbers.

We're looking at a space with 5,830 sq/ft and 18' high ceilings. Downtown!
